Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the VetDD application ("the App"), operated by Jastej Singh Luther ("VetDD", "we", "us", or "our"). By accessing or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use the App.
VetDD is currently provided free of charge to all registered users. No payment of any kind is required to access or use the App.
1. Description of the Service
VetDD is a veterinary reference filtering tool designed to help users navigate veterinary disease information. The App does not constitute veterinary advice and must not be used as a substitute for professional veterinary consultation. VetDD functions solely as a filter and information aggregator.
By using VetDD, you acknowledge that:
- The information provided is for reference purposes only.
- You are solely responsible for any decisions made based on information sourced through or presented by VetDD.
- You should always adhere to the veterinary guidelines and standards set out by the governing veterinary body of your country.
VetDD makes no representation that the App will be available without interruption or entirely free of technical errors, and access may be subject to temporary downtime for maintenance or updates.
2. Free Access
All features of VetDD are currently available at no cost to registered users. There are no hidden fees, subscription charges, or payment requirements associated with the current version of the App.
VetDD reserves the right to introduce paid features, donations, or a subscription model in the future. Should this occur, the updated Terms will be published in accordance with Section 10 of these Terms.
3. Account Registration
To use the App, you must register an account by providing your name and email address. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, notify us immediately at contact@vetdd.org.
You must provide accurate and truthful information at the time of registration. VetDD reserves the right to suspend accounts found to contain false or misleading registration information.
4. Intellectual Property
All brand assets, visual design elements, homepage layouts, database schematics, configurability structures, and the overall architecture and layout of the App are the exclusive intellectual property of VetDD and Jastej Singh Luther. These are protected under applicable South African intellectual property law.
The informational content contained within each disease entry in the App (e.g., clinical descriptions, diagnostic criteria) is not claimed as the intellectual property of VetDD.
Nothing in these Terms grants you a licence to copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from VetDD's proprietary assets.
5. User-Submitted Images
By uploading, submitting, or otherwise providing any image to VetDD (including via the App's upload facilities), you acknowledge and agree that:
- Upon submission, you retain ownership of the image and remain free to use, licence, or publish it elsewhere. Concurrently, you grant VetDD and Jastej Singh Luther a non-exclusive, irrevocable, perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide licence to store, use, reproduce, display, distribute, and otherwise exploit the image within the App and in connection with VetDD's operation. Once so provided, control over whether and how the image appears or continues to appear in VetDD rests solely with VetDD and Jastej Singh Luther, and such use falls outside your further direction or jurisdiction, subject to the remaining provisions of this Section.
- Where an image is uploaded containing a watermark, copyright notice, attribution mark, or embedded metadata, VetDD shall, to the extent reasonably practicable, respect and retain such watermark, notice, mark, or metadata if and when the image is used or displayed within the App.
- VetDD retains the sole and absolute discretion to display, withhold, modify the presentation of, or permanently remove any submitted image from the App at any time, with or without notice.
- VetDD is under no obligation to remove, delete, or cease use of an image once it has been uploaded or otherwise provided to VetDD, including where you subsequently request its removal.
- Submission of an image does not constitute any guarantee, representation, or entitlement that the image will be displayed in the App. Images are subject to internal review to assess whether they are of adequate quality and calibre for inclusion. Only thereafter may the developer of VetDD, at their sole discretion, elect to display such image within the App.
You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights, licences, and authority to submit any image you provide to VetDD, and that such submission does not infringe the rights of any third party. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless VetDD and Jastej Singh Luther against any claim arising from your breach of this representation.
6. Prohibited Use
By using VetDD, you agree that you will not:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the database schema or structural design of the App for the purpose of building a similar product or service in the veterinary field.
- Systematically scrape, mass-download, or bulk-extract the information hosted within the App.
- Copy, reproduce, or misappropriate VetDD's brand images, visual designs, or any proprietary assets not publicly disclosed.
- Impersonate VetDD or represent yourself as an affiliate, employee, or representative of VetDD. For verification of any VetDD-related communication, contact contact@vetdd.org.
- Engage in any activity that interferes with or disrupts the operation of the App or its infrastructure.
Violation of these restrictions may result in the immediate termination of your account. In cases of repeated or severe violations, VetDD reserves the right to pursue all available legal remedies, which may include, where appropriate and necessary, the use of technical means to identify and address ongoing unlawful activity for the purpose of initiating formal legal proceedings.
7. Account Termination
VetDD reserves the right to suspend or permanently terminate your account, without prior notice, if you are found to be in material breach of these Terms, including but not limited to violations described in Section 6.
Upon termination:
- Your access to the App will be revoked immediately.
- As no payment is involved, no refund considerations apply.
- Your personal data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable South African law:
- VetDD is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without any warranty of any kind, express or implied.
- VetDD expressly disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of information, and uninterrupted availability.
- In no event shall Jastej Singh Luther or VetDD be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the App, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
- As VetDD is provided entirely free of charge, VetDD's total aggregate liability for any claim arising under these Terms shall not exceed R100.00.
9. Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute arising from or related to these Terms or your use of the App shall first be addressed by contacting us at contact@vetdd.org to seek an amicable resolution.
If a resolution cannot be reached, disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, including in the event that a paid access or donation model is introduced. The current version of these Terms is made available to users within the App at /tos. Continued use of the App after the updated Terms are published at that path constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
